Ship recycling is considered the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of a vessel reaching the end of her operational life. In 2013, the International Conference on Ship Recycling (SHIPREC 2013) was held in Malmö, Sweden from 7-9 April. The event brought together 275 participants to discuss and debate informative presentations from 47 speakers on nine session themes relating to virtually all aspects of ship recycling. The proceedings include a selection of papers presented at the event.
