erasmus+ at WMU

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s flagship programme for education, training, youth, and sport. Its primary objective is to support lifelong learning by fostering the educational, professional, and personal development of individuals in these fields — in Europe and beyond. Facilitating transnational and international cooperation between organizations in education and training promotes the exchange of ideas, best practices, and expertise.

The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.

Since 2022, the World Maritime University (WMU) has been part of the Erasmus+ programme, actively engaging in both outgoing and incoming student and staff mobility. WMU is also involved in a number of Erasmus+ funded projects.

WMU signed the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021–2027 which sets out the basic principles and minimum requirements that higher education institutions must meet when implementing activities under Erasmus+.

In addition, our Erasmus Policy Statement outlines the University’s international strategy in alignment with the Erasmus+ objectives.
