Judge Konrad Jan Marciniak has served as a Member of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea since October 2023. Prior to this appointment, he held several senior roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, including serving as the Director and Legal Adviser for the Treaty and Legal Department. His extensive diplomatic and legal background includes serving as Vice-President to the Bureau of the BBNJ Intergovernmental Conference and heading Polish delegations to various EU and Council of Europe working groups on public international law. An accomplished academic, he is a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary University of London and has lectured at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the World Maritime University and the IMO International Maritime Law Institute. Judge Marciniak is also a designated conciliator and arbitrator under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the Antarctic Treaty.
