Julien RAYNAUT served as executive in-house counsel for more than 25 years in Energy and Maritime environments. Graduated from Aix-en-Provence University and Faculty of Law in 2001, he holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Law and Transport Law from the prestigious Maritime Law and Transports Center (CDMT), as well as a general Master’s degree in Business Law and two University Diplomas (Sciences Politics and Comparative Law) with honors.

From 2001 to 2009, he served as Legal Counsel for the LNG industry in Paris, acting for Gaz de France (then GDF-SUEZ post-merger) and the trading house Gaselys. From 2009 to 2015, Julien was based in Monaco and acted as senior legal counsel, Head of Legal Monaco and then Group Compliance Officer for SBM Offshore, a Dutch contractor of the Oil & Gas Offshore Industry. In 2015, Julien RAYNAUT was nominated as General Counsel of Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, the IACS Class Society; he was promoted Vice-President Legal & Compliance, General Counsel & Compliance Officer in October 2025.

Julien RAYNAUT has developed in parallel an activity of Maritime Arbitrator and is listed in two arbitration chambers panels since 2018 (Paris Maritime Arbitration Chamber and Paris International Arbitration Chamber) and is the President of the French Maritime Law Association since 2025. He is also the Chairman of the IACS Legal committee (EG/Law) since 2024
