Flavia Destro is the Conference & Events Coordinator for the World Maritime University (WMU), a role she has held since June 2024. She brings to the position solid experience in stakeholder management, strategic planning, and project management.
Previously, Flavia served as the Senior Administrative Assistant at the WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute, where she developed their communication materials, supported the Director, the Head of Ocean Research, and Researchers. She initially joined WMU in 2019 as Assistant to the Vice-President (Academic Affairs) and worked as a project coordinator on a number of high-profile projects in partnership with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). Her background includes several years of work experience in international companies and higher education institutions in Sweden and abroad.
Flavia holds a B.A. in Social Communications from FAAP (Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado) in Brazil, where she studied a range of interdisciplinary subjects including linguistics, visual communication, psychology of communication, philosophy, and art history.
