Dr. Enrico D'agostini is an Assistant Professor of Shipping and Port Management at the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Prior to the post, Enrico worked at the University of Malta as an Assistant Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Prior to pursuing an academic career, Enrico was a practitioner in the maritime industry for about 10 years having worked in the sector with different roles and responsibilities, such as a ship agent, freight forwarder and ship broker. During his professional career in Italy, Enrico played an active shipbroking role in the dry bulk segment focusing on the intra-Mediterranean and Black Sea market, whilst in the Republic of Korea his functions were largely conducted in the Australia/Southeast Asia to Far East market.
Since his PhD time, Enrico has held a keen interest in maritime economics, shipping and port management, development strategies as his main research themes. His research works appear at internationally well-regarded peer-reviewed journals in the field. He does also contribute to academic and learned societies as an ad hoc reviewer for those outlets.
He has participated in a number of international maritime logistics projects as a researcher funded by such international agencies as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Maritime Organization, Busan Port Authority, Korea International Cooperation Agency, and Korea Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries.
Enrico has been a Chartered Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (U.K.) since 2011, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (U.K.) since 2020. He has been engaged with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in Korea as a lecturer and examiner for the subject of Shipping Business.
