Emre Akyuz is a professor in the Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He has experienced with commercial ships such as working on-board as an ocean-going officer and ocean-going chief officer. His main research interests are risk analysis, reliability analysis, human error prediction, HMI, and accident analysis modelling in the maritime domain. He carried out several EU-funded projects and industrial cooperation projects in maritime transportation. He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed journal papers, 34 international conference proceedings with peer-review and 3 book chapters on risk analysis, reliability analysis, human error, MASS, HMI, accident analysis and critical shipboard operations in maritime transportation (h-index: 41in Scopus). He has served as a reviewer for more than 15 journals. He is invited to serve as the Editorial Board Member/section editor of Safety Science, Ocean Engineering, Sustainability, Journal of ETA Maritime Science, etc.
