As Senior Deputy Director of MPA’s Shipping Division, Darrick is responsible for the development and implementation of shipping-related policies and oversees various key functions including the Singapore ship registry; seafarers policy, development and welfare; seafarers skills upgrading, certification and accreditation; and ship regulations, designs and standards.

Darrick was previously Singapore’s liaison officer to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London from 2021 to 2024. In his current role, he continues to participate in IMO meetings such as the Maritime Safety Committee, and also serves as the Chair of two IMO Working Groups on the Strategic Plan as well as Development of Training Provisions for Seafarers using Alternative Fuels and New Technologies, under the purview of the Council and Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping Sub-Committee, respectively.

Darrick had served in various roles within MPA and Singapore’s Ministry of Transport – including industry development, sea transport policy, and Tuas Port planning. He graduated with a BSc in Economics from University College London and MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University in the City of New York.
