WMU Graduate Captain Sunil Thapar Chosen CMD of SCI

WMU graduate, Captain Sunil Thapar has been chosen by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) as the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), previously held by S. Hajara, WMU Governor, and Dr. C. P. Srivastava, Founding Chancellor of WMU and IMO Secretary General until 1992. Captain Thapar has recently held the position of Director of the Bulk Carriers and Tankers division of SCI and will assume his role as the CMD as of 1 January 2013. He holds a Master (Foreign Going) Certificate of Competency issued by the Ministry of Shipping and a M.Sc. in Shipping Management from WMU in 1996.
