WMU 2012 Dalian Graduation

On Saturday, 25 August 2012, the Graduation Ceremony of WMU's MSc program in Maritime Safety and Environmental Management was held at Dalian Maritime University (DMU). It was the 7th graduation of the MSEM programme which began in 2005 through collaboration with DMU. Among the 34 students of MSEM 2012 class, 32 graduated with WMU's MSc degree, 2 students are on deferral status. Along with numerous family members and friends of the graduates, additional attendees at the ceremony included WMU Vice President International, Professor Shuo Ma, and WMU Vice President Academic, Neil Bellefontaine who traveled to Dalian on behalf of the President of WMU. Representatives from China included the President of DMU, Professor Wang and Vice President of DMU, Professor Liu, as well as representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Transport, China Maritime Safety Administration, China Rescue and Salvage, DMU faculty members, and the MSEM class of 2013 students. After the MSc Degree conferral upon the graduates by Vice President Bellefontaine on behalf of WMU President Kjerfve, 4 awards were given to the following individuals: The Chancellor's Medal for Academic Excellence was awarded to Mr. Meng Bin, and The "Best Research Paper Prizes" were awarded to Mr. Feng Xiaobo, Mr. Liu Gang, and Mr. Liu Huiliang. The ceremony concluded with the DMU Student Band playinng the WMU and DMU songs.
