MoU with Berbera Maritime & Fisheries Academy, Somalia

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Academic Cooperation was signed between WMU and the Berbera Maritime & Fisheries Academy (BMFA) on 22 February. WMU welcomed alumnus (M.Sc. PSA 1992) Abdiqani Mohamed Khayre, Vice-President of BMFA, and Captain Ali Mohamed Hassan, Lecuter, for the signing. The Agreement enables linkages in the field of marine affairs, broadly defined to include maritime safety, security, and marine and maritime environmental management. Specific areas of cooperation include potential exchange of faculty members, academic and information exchange, education of BMFA faculty and students at WMU, and development of joint scientific and/or technological research projects.
