MoU between WMU and Chalmers

Björn Kjerfve, President of the World Maritime University is pleased to sign a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic cooperation with Dr. Klas Brännström, Head of the Department for Shipping and Marine Technology Chalmers University of Göthenburg,Sweden. The MOU provides for opportunities for academic cooperation such as lecture exchanges,field studies and research collaboration.

The MOU with Chalmers commits both institutions to academic cooperation, such as lecture exchanges and research collaboration in the area of maritime affairs-human factors and maritime risk. Furthermore, the MOU gives WMU's faculty access to the Lighthouse network.

"Lighthouse is a co-operation of competence in the maritime sector. Lighthouse is a unique multidisciplinary maritime competence and research centre initiated by Chalmers, the School of Business, Economics and Law at Göteborg University and The Swedish Shipowners’ Association. The group aims to make shipping more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly as well as to ensure that Swedish shipping continues to be strongly competitive. Lighthouse brings research into ship construction, maritime safety and hydrodynamics together with logistics, maritime law and business analysis and world trade along with other financial issues."
