Korea Ship Safety Technology Authority Visits WMU

On 30 November WMU welcomed distinguished guests from the Korea Ship Safety Technology Authority (KST) led by Mr. Ick Soo Mok, President and CEO of KST. The guests were welcomed by Vice President Academic, Neil Bellefontaine and Professor Daniel Moon.

Mr. Mok expressed his sincere gratitude to WMU for educating many KST staff members and further promised to continue sending KST staff members to study at the University. In addition to sponsoring students in the MSc programme, KST has been a long-time supporter of field studies to Korea for students in the Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration specialization.

Following presentations by both parties, there was an opportunity to discuss further possibilities for collaboration. Additional representatives of KST who joined the visit included Mr. Sae Byuk Song, Manager, Safety Operating Management, Mr. Kyeong Yeol Lee, Senior Surveyor, Ship Survey Management Office, and Mr. Sang-Ryang Moon, Senior Surveyor, Ship Convergence Technology Office.
