WMU International Day 2024

The annual WMU International Day celebration for 2024 was held on 10 August at the Henrik Smith Residence for students. This year’s theme was “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Cultures Around the World.” The popular event is attended by students, staff, host families, friends, and families of the students.

Professor Max Mejia, Jr., WMU President, provided welcome remarks for the gathering, reflecting on the diversity theme and the remarkable environment WMU provides for cross-cultural understanding in the true spirit of the United Nations. International Day has been an annual event at WMU since 1999 and is a highlight of activities and events that are typically spread throughout the academic year. WMU’s International Day celebration brings together people from around the world to share their languages, culture and differences which in turn fosters appreciation and understanding, ultimately benefiting society as a whole. The Malmö Class of 2024 includes students from 48 countries who shared their national dress and provided cultural presentations and food.
