Frederick Kenney Guest Lecturer

On 23 January, WMU welcomed Mr Frederick Kenney, Director of Legal and External Affairs for the International Maritime Organization (IMO), as a Guest Lecturer for the course Principles of Maritime Administration and International Institutions. The course provides a broad overview and appreciation of the role of government and maritime administrations in policy formulation regarding maritime affairs, as well as the role of the various international institutions involved in shipping. Mr Kenney’s lecture provided the students with expert insight into the development, entry into force and amendment processes with respect to IMO instruments. The lecture was delivered to students in both the Maritime Law & Policy and Maritime Safety & Environmental Administration specializations which include 51 students from 27 countries.

Founded in 1983 by the IMO, the World Maritime University has exceptional opportunities to closely cooperate with the Organization, including the extraordinary advantage of access to senior maritime experts operating at the highest levels of responsibility who share their invaluable, practice-oriented knowledge as guest lecturers in a variety of specialist courses across the WMU curriculum.
