Delegation from TETA Visits WMU

WMU welcomed a delegation from the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) of South Africa for a meeting with WMU Acting President, Neil Bellefontaine, and Registrar, Sue Jackson, on 26 May. Successive meetings with students from South Africa took place on 29 May.

Ms. Maphefo Anno-Frempong, Chief Executive Officer, led the delegation which included Mr. Sabelo Mbuku, Corporate Communications Officer, and Mr. Avukile Dlanga, Research and Knowledge Manager. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the intake to 2016 from South Africa and to see the new WMU building.

Ms. Anno-Frempong attended the 2014 Graduation Ceremony last November when twenty-three students funded by the Government of the Republic of South Africa graduated from WMU. The event marked a milestone in maritime capacity building for South Africa which previously had only five graduates from WMU over the past 30 years. There are 13 students from South Africa in the Class of 2015.
