American Bureau of Shipping Visit to WMU

On 6 April, President Doumbia-Henry welcomed guests from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) including Dr. Jan Otto de Kat, Director, Energy Efficiency and Vessel Performance, and Dr. Christian Schack, Assistant Director, Energy Efficiency and Vessel Performance. The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential avenues for collaboration on research as well as the new M.Sc. specialization in Maritime Energy Management and the upcoming International Conference on Maritime Energy Management, MARENER 2017, that will take place at WMU 24-25 January.

ABS has been a long-standing supporter of WMU providing funding for 34 students from 21 countries since 1998, including four students in the Class of 2016. The visit also provided the opportunity to meet with Sue Jackson, WMU Registrar, as well as two of the four students currently receiving funding from ABS.
