WEBINAR Seafarers' Mental Health & Well-Being: Translating Research into Practice

Seafarers are the cornerstone of global trade and essential to maintaining the worldwide economy and promoting a sustainable future. The working and living conditions on board ships substantially impact seafarers' mental health and well-being, affecting maritime operations' occupational health and safety. In June 2024, the Inquiry Journal of Health Care Organization, Provision, and Financing published a special collection on the Mental Health and Well-being of Seafarers, promoted by researchers from the World Maritime University (WMU).This collection comprises recent studies by worldwide scholars examining seafarers' mental health and well-being.These upcoming webinars are a collaborative effort that brings together the authors of this special collection, mental health professionals, seafarers, and researchers. They are designed to foster a discussion on the interrelation of their research findings and real-world practices, with the goal of enhancing seafarers' working and living conditions. The event(s) will also address work and life aspects, including health, safety, and well-being, and explore ways to better support seafarers in their pivotal role as key workers. The webinars will consist of two parts. Different papers of the special collection will be presented, followed by a panel discussion. These webinars offer participants a unique opportunity to gain insights and perspectives that can significantly contribute to the improvement of seafarers' mental health and well-being.
