On the occasion of the XXV International Congress of Maritime Law, organized by the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law (IIDM), from 30 September to 4 October 2024 in Playa del Carme, Mexico, the Institute launched its latest book, "The Agenda 2030 and Ibero-American Maritime Law."
This book is the result of the work of lawyers and maritime experts, mainly from Venezuela and other countries of the Latin American region, who attended a call for papers issued by the Venezuelan Chapter of the IIDM. After signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute and the World Maritime University (WMU), the University joined the project and assumed responsibility for publishing the book.
The book includes a collection of monographs and essays by eleven experts who reflect on the progress of some of the 17 Objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda in their country. It explores the interrelationship between the challenges and opportunities faced by the Ibero-American region in maritime matters and related activities while seeking to contribute to the development of policies and the unification of maritime law in the countries of the region.
Dr. Iván Sabatino Pizolante, former Vice President of the Venezuelan Chapter, coordinated the book, which Associate Professor María Carolina Romero, Head of the Maritime Law Specialization at the World Maritime University in Malmö, Sweden, edited.
