Chris Hoebeke comes to WMU from the University of Virginia in the US, where he was Systems Librarian for thirteen years. Prior to that, he was a manuscripts and rare books cataloger at the University of South Carolina. Chris was an infantry officer in the US army before attaining master's degrees in history and library science. In addition to being a published poet, he is a fellow in Constitutional Studies at the National Humanities Institute, and has authored several articles on American politics, and a book, The Road to Mass Democracy: Original Intent and the Seventeenth Amendment (Transaction, 1995).
Chris has a strong background in library technology, systems administration, and web and database programming. He is excited about the opportunity to enhance access to the library's collections and services, and enjoys working with staff and students in supporting the unique teaching and research mission of WMU.
