Mr. Andrea Betti studied law in Genova, Italy, and with a final dissertation on Maritime Law he was awarded his Master’s Degree. After a period of apprenticeship in a Maritime Law firm, he started working in Costa Cruises’ legal office, shifting to become a Navy (Coast Guard) Officer in 2001. Constantly interested in the interaction between legal and technical sides of shipping, worked in the Safety of Ports and Navigation Department of different Italian offices, landing to Sanremo, Italy, to become Harbour Master there.
Mr. Betti is a Port State Control Officer and Flag State Inspector, with duties ranging from PSC and Flag certification to ships and ports security, and SAR operations. In 2017 Andrea joined EMSA, where he is currently working as Project Officer for training and capacity building.
