Dr. Anas S. Alamoush is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Maritime Energy Management at the World Maritime University (WMU). Anas embarked on his academic journey after 16 years of service in the Royal Jordanian Navy, where he served as a ship captain and maritime operations officer with the Combined Maritime Forces.
Anas holds a Master of Science in Shipping Management and Logistics and a PhD in Maritime Affairs from WMU, with a doctoral focus on port energy transition. A proud alumnus of the WMU-Sasakawa Fellowship and the UN Nippon Foundation Research Programme, he worked as a research fellow with the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS).
At WMU, Anas has contributed to several major internationally funded projects on port decarbonisation and maritime energy management, including EU Horizon SEANERGY, the POTENT MSCA Doctoral Network, and POTENT-X, as well as IMO-commissioned studies on mid-term GHG measures. He actively develops and submits research proposals for EU Horizon and other funding bodies. He lectures on port decarbonisation and energy transition, supervises PhD and MSc students, and delivers workshops in the Decarbonisation and Port Summer Academy.
Anas has authored approximately 40 publications in journals such as Energy Policy, Marine Pollution Bulletin, and Energy Research and Social Science, with high citation impact (over 1,500 citations) and an h-index of 16. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Shipping and Trade and Maritime Technology and Research, and reviews for leading journals including Maritime Policy and Management, Maritime Economics and Logistics, Marine Policy, and Transportation Research Part D. His contributions to international maritime cooperation were recognised with the Defence Medal for International Service, awarded by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
