Al Blaisdell has been in active duty service with the United States Coast Guard for 26 years. 13 years as an electronics technician onboard several Coast Guard cutters, and at various electronics support units throughout the US before making the rank of Chief. He then commissioned as an officer into the maritime safety field and has served at various assignments including marine inspector and offshore oil\gas inspector in New Orleans, Houma, & Morgan City, Louisiana and conducted CG regulatory oversight on US flagged new construction oil\gas production units in South Korea shipyards including SHI, DSME, & HHI. Further, he was the Marine Safety Unit Supervisor and Senior Investigator in American Samoa and most recently the Prevention Department Chief at Forces Micronesia\Sector Guam.
Al Blaisdell joined the faculty of the World Maritime University in June 2024 where he is on secondment as a guest lecturer and liaison officer assigned to the Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration specialization. He is happily married to Flora Blaisdell for over 20 years and they have a teenage son named Adin Blaisdell.
