MoU with Sea-U Marine Science Centre

A Memorandum of Understanding on Educational Cooperation was signed with the Sea-U Marine Science Centre on 13 December. WMU has a long-standing relationship with SEA-U which is located in Malmö just a short distance from the University. The formal agreement has a duration of five years and is focused on enabling linkages in the field of marine affairs in general and marine environmental education in particular. Each party to the Understanding has agreed to cooperate in marine education including the exchange of visitors and students to support theoretical and practical pedagogy in marine education.

Earlier this fall, on 26 October, a group comprised of 17 WMU students and staff members participated in a field visit to SEA-U to learn more about the life under the surface of the Öresund. The group received a presentation from the staff, visited the aquarium, and suited up in wader gear to use underwater viewers to study marine life of the Öresund first-hand despite the 9° C water temperature. Experienced SEA-U marine biologists accompanied the group into the sea to maximize the learning experience.
