Korea Shipowners’ Association Donation

On 19 May, prior to the inauguration of the new WMU building, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Korea Shipowners’ Association (KSA) in support of the move to the new premises.

Mr. Kyong Hoon KIM, Deputy General Manager, Business Affairs Team for KSA and Professor Neil Bellefontaine, WMU Acting President signed the MoU in the presence of Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, WMU President Designate. The MoU provides WMU with 50,000,000 South Korean WON, approximately 45,000 USD, to support the new World Bistro facilities at the University.

This past December, Acting President Bellefontaine and Professor Daniel S.H. Moon, INMARSAT Chair and Head of Shipping and Port Management, visited the KSA headquarters. KSA has been a supporter of WMU field studies to Korea for the MSEA specialization by sponsoring the 'River cruise welcome party' on the HAN river.
