International Day 2016

On 20 August, over 250 people gathered together at the Henrik Smith Residence for International Day 2016. In the true spirit of the United Nations, We Are Unity was the theme for the event.

WMU President, Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, addressed the gathering stating, “The WMU International Day celebration is a fitting tribute to the United Nations ideals. More than 50 nationalities are represented here today exemplifying diversity of nationalities, regions, cultures, language, religion and gender. Sacrifices have been made for you to be here, and your reward is a magnificent environment for sharing, education, communication and understanding as well as the opportunity to build something extraordinary together. We must all play our part to create unity that the world needs today, more than ever before.”

International Day has been an annual event at WMU since 1999 and continues to be a highlight of activities. This year over 50 countries were represented with national dress, presentations and food. Guests included WMU staff, host families, friends and families of the students.
