Commanders of Nordic Coast Guards visit WMU

On 8 September the heads of the 5 different Nordic country Coast Guards paid a courtesy visit to WMU. They met with WMU President, Dr Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry and Professor and Director of Research and the PhD Programme, Dr Olof Lindén.

After a presentation about WMU by Dr Doumbia-Henry, there was an opportunity to discuss possibilities for collaboration. WMU already has a long-standing cooperative relationship with the Swedish Coast Guard that provides field study opportunities for WMU students.

The visitors included - from Sweden: Rear Admiral (CG) Dan Thorell + desk officer international affairs Susanna Hedenmark, from Denmark: Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn and Commander S.g. Per Ertløv Hansen, from Finland: Commodore Markku Hassinen and Lcdr Jani Järäinen, from Norway: Chief of Staff - Captain (Navy) Ottar Haugen and SSO - Commander Senior Grade Steve Olsen, and from Iceland: Director General Georg K. Lárusson and Chief of Operations Ásgrímur L. Ásgrímsson
