Class of 2014 Record Enrollment, Malmö

The inauguration of the Class of 2014, Malmö M.Sc. in Maritime Affairs, took place on 16 September. Representing a record enrollment, WMU is welcoming a total of 120 students into the 14-month program. Overall, the students represent 45 countries and this is the first time a student from the Netherlands has joined the program. With a group of 21 South Africans sponsored by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), this year is the first time since 1994 that the number of students from Africa outnumber Asia. Of the incoming class, 24 participated in the summer English Study Skills Program which is a 3-month, intensive maritime English program. Orientation for the class began 9 September and continued throughout the week with activities, tours, and valuable information about life in Sweden. It is expected that 8 additional students will join the Class of 2014 for the M.Sc. accelerated program that begins in January 2014. WMU extends a warm welcome to our new students and we wish them the best in their time at WMU and beyond.
