Annual Malmö City Welcome Dinner, 2014

The annual City of Malmö welcome dinner for the incoming students was held 15 October in the Old City Hall. Over 350 guests were in attendance including current students and their families, host families, and WMU faculty and staff. Mr. Kent Andersson, Mayor of Malmö, Chairman of the Malmö City Council, and WMU Governor, welcomed the guests to the historic Old City Hall. In his remarks, Chairman Andersson noted the honor of hosting WMU in Malmö and the importance of WMU to the community. Further welcoming remarks were made by Neil Bellefontaine, Acting President of WMU, and Hyun Lee, the newly elected President of the Student Council.

The welcome dinner, graciously hosted by the City of Malmö, is always a highlight of activities at WMU bringing the local WMU community together to share in an elegant evening of dining and music. A lively swing band entertained the guests throughout the evening that concluded with dancing.
