2014 Day of the Seafarer

Wednesday, 25 June is the fourth international Day of the Seafarer, an official United Nations observance day. This year’s social media campaign implemented by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is Seafarers Brought Me….

The intent of the campaign is to highlight the diversity and scale of products that are shipped throughout our global community and to recognize the importance of the more than 1.5 million seafarers that deliver them.

At WMU, Seafarers bring us inspiration to work and study to serve the global maritime community. Roughly 30 percent of our faculty, and 30 percent of our students come from seafaring backgrounds.

Thank you seafarers!
