As part of the Closing the Circle Programme, the WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute is pleased to welcome the international community to a special webinar focused on Leveraging Drone Technology for Coastal and Marine Management.
SPEAKER
Dr. Kimberly Baldwin
Director at Marine Spatial Information Solutions, Inc. and Research Associate at Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES), University of West Indies (UWI), Barbados
Dr. Baldwin is a marine ecologist with specialized skills in marine mapping and geoinformatics, focusing on participatory research and the utility of information technologies to support stakeholder engagement and collaborative approaches in the development of more holistic information for environmental planning and management.
Presently, her research explores how IT and drones can be leveraged for community-based participatory mapping of the environment and how a P-UASApproach can be used to support the collaborative generation and sharing of information to assist the application of ecosystem-based management across the Caribbean.
Dr. Baldwin has more than 20 years of practical experience in the Caribbean conducting environmental field-surveys, mapping and monitoring applications; remote sensing and advanced spatial analysis, stakeholder engagement techniques, participatory mapping and marine spatial planning including teaching and training courses.
