MoU with Ministry of Transport, Angola

A Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation was signed on 4 December between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Angola and WMU. The understanding will enable cooperation in the fields of maritime and marine affairs, broadly defined to include maritime safety, security, navigational technologies, as well as marine, maritime, and environmental management. Under the agreement, The Ministry will obtain the relevant authorization and funding  to sponsor 3-10 Angolan students annually for five years in the Malmö M.Sc. program. 

The agreement was signed at the Angolan Embassy in London by H.E. Dr. Augusto da Silva Tomás, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Angola, and WMU President, Dr. Björn Kjerfve in the presence of H.E. Miguel Gaspar Fernandes Neto, Ambassador, Republic of Angola to United Kingdom & the Republic of Ireland, as well as officials from the Embassy and the Angola Ministry of Transport. WMU Alumnus, Olivio Jacinto (MLP 2008), Senior Maritime Adviser of Angola Permanent Representation to the IMO, was instrumental in liaising the agreement and was also present for the signing ceremony.
