WMU participated in the Maritime Day event held on 16 May in Mariehamn, Åland. WMU was represented by Associate Academic Dean Patrick Donner and Senior Faculty Specialist, Mia Hedin. Among the exhibitors were ship owners, suppliers, maritime schools and other maritime organizations.

During the week of 13-17 May, WMU hosted the second of two workshops entitled Train-the-Trainer Initiative on Energy Efficient Operations of Ships. Twenty individuals representing fifteen countries participated in the May event, and another twenty individuals from 18-22 February.
