WMU Contributes to IUCN Ocean De-oxygenation Report

At COP25 in Madrid, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) released the comprehensive report “Ocean deoxygenation: everyone’s problem”. The report on oxygen in the global ocean was produced by about 70 leading researchers around the world, including WMU Professor Olof Linden. The work was coordinated by the IUCN and was financed by the Ministry of the Environment in Sweden.

On 18 December, the World Maritime University (WMU) hosted a BONUS BALTIMARI Workshop entitled “From Research to Practice”. The one-day research workshop focused on the assessment of research uptake and the possible pathways for its improvement. A document of best practices that would benefit, among others, policymakers and academia is one of the expected outcomes of the engagement.

WMU Contributes to Cyber-MAR project to prepare for emerging and future cyber-attacks

The kickoff meeting for the EU funded Horizon 2020 research project, Cyber-MAR, took place from 18-20 September in Porto Heli, Greece. The objectives of the 36-month project state: “Cyber-MAR is an effort to fully unlock the value of using cyber range in the maritime logistics value chain via the development of an innovative simulation environment adapting in the peculiarities of the maritime sector, but being at the same time easily applicable in other transport subsectors.”
