WMU at Swedish Maritime Day 2015

WMU was a co-organizer of the 2015 Swedish Maritime Day (SMD) event that took place on 20 April in Gothenburg and was opened by the Swedish Minster of Infrastructure, Anna Johansson. SMD is the largest maritime conference in Sweden and gathers stakeholders from across the maritime sector – industry, academia, government institutions, politics and interest groups. Participants at SMD represent shipping, marine engineering, marine environment, marine and maritime research, fisheries and aquaculture, seafood, biotechnology, tourism, offshore energy and ocean management.

The focus of this year’s event was on maritime technology, transport, ocean resources, maritime service and tourism. In addition to co-organizing the event, WMU participated in the conference program with a presentation on active use of maritime spatial planning, and a scientific poster on the WMU project that focuses on Invasives in the Arctic. WMU was represented by Research Assistants, Lilitha Pongolini, and Jennie Folkunger.
