At WMU, M.Sc. students benefit from a unique program of global field studies at host organizations all over the world. On 7 August 2012, eight students from the Maritime Education and Training (MET) Specialization traveled to Rostock for a field study. The group left Sweden via Trelleborg where they boarded the Ro-Ro ferry, MV SKANE to Rostock. While on board, the students had the opportunity to learn and go through fire fighting drills as well as observe ship operations at sea. Led by WMU Professor Takeshi Nakazawa, the group visited three institutions while in Rostock including MarineSoft, Institut Für Sicherheitstechnik/Schiffssicherheit e.V., the European Cruise Academy of AIDA Cruises, and Hanse Sail Competition.
