Class of 2018 Inauguration – Dalian, China

On 12 June, the Class of 2018 MSc programme in Maritime Safety and Environmental Management (MSEM) was inaugurated in Dalian, China. The 15-month, intensive programme is delivered in cooperation with Dalian Maritime University (DMU). The incoming class includes 31 students from China and one from Thailand. The majority of the students come from China’s Maritime Safety Administration.   

The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Shuo Ma, Vice President International of WMU, Professor Zhengjiang Liu, Vice President of DMU, the MSEM faculty and staff as well as DMU staff members. On behalf of the WMU President, Dr Doumbia-Henry and DMU President Dr Sun Yuqing, Professor Ma and Professor Liu welcomed the new students to the programme.

The MSEM programme was launched in 2005. To date, 443 graduates have completed the programme which WMU has offered since 1983. The programme is intended to meet the maritime industry’s demand for high-level, specialized professionals.
