MASS & Shipping Sustainability Seminar
Technology-driven maritime developments, such as Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), inherently focus on technological considerations, but also require taking regulations and policy into account. It is also important to consider how such technologies contribute to the sustainability of shipping. To this end, the World Maritime University (WMU), together with the Republic of Korea and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the International Maritime Organization, are co-hosting an international seminar, “MASS & Shipping Sustainability” to examine the current state and future prospects of autonomous ships in terms of technology, regulation and policy, and to explore sustainable development strategies for the international maritime community.
The seminar will take place on 13 October 2023 in Malmö, Sweden at the Clarion Hotel Malmö Live which is in close proximity to WMU. The event is in-person only and space is limited. Interested participants should email cjc@wmu.se (Assi. Prof. Chong-Ju Chae) and skswjd1120@imkmc.or.kr (Researcher, Hyejin Park)to inquire if space is available.
