Life Below Water
The City of Malmö is organizing the Life Under Water conference in collaboration with KIMO and WMU.
Why Life Below Water?
In June 2017, Sweden and Fiji co-hosted a high-level United Nations Conference to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. The Ocean Conference took place in New York on 5–9 June 2017, coinciding with World Oceans Day.
To follow up the high-level conference in New York, the City of Malmö will be hosting Life Below Water 2017, an international conference that aims to help boost local implementation of UN SDG Goal 14.
Local initiatives are critical to the fulfilment of the UN goal and Malmö is one of the cities at the forefront, demonstrating how working towards sustainability generates local development and benefits society.
